Did I Miss The Boat On Serverless?

I saw a post, shared by someone in the local development community that I respect, written by Yan Cui talking about taking on an agency on a $100,000+ contract. Promoting AWS's serverless ecosystem, it was suggested that you didn't need a team at all, just one person with 18+ years of experience, and 9 of then working primarily on artictecture and server issues. I think there are a lot of things where a serverless architecture can save you labour pain. I'm feeling like this is a lot of bravado, but I don't know. It's been years since I worked on a serverless project of any consequence, but I can't say that my experience had the massive price and labour differences being pushed here. I wonder how much things have changed.
